It's been a while since my last talk at Django Meetup Cologne. After almost a year of absence, I will give a talk about DEP (Django Enhancement Proposal) 14: Background Workers by Jake Howard.
DEP14 is a recently approved enhancement to Django that outlines a common interface for background workers as well as a reference implementation, which will be shipped alongside Django. Most notably it will include a simple ORM-based worker, that allows to setup a background worker in no time. This will be a game changer for Django, since it allows developers of third-party dependencies to use the common interface to offload background work. It also simplifies the setup for projects for which things like Celery are just plain overkill.
In my talk, I will go through the proposal and demonstrate what is currently possible with the reference implementation.
Your are still able to sign up for the meetup and attend remotely or in person: Django Meetup Cologne Vol. 56.
